Experience has spoken. Andrey Rublev, 5th player in the world and particularly regular in Grand Slams since 2020, won with forceps against the Australian Alex de Minaur, pushed by the audience at the Rod Laver Arena.

Manhandled in the two tie-breaks, held on and won by the Australian, Andrey Rublev came back well in the fourth and fifth sets to secure a place in the quarter-finals, as in 2023. At the end of the match, as the score indicates, Andrey Rublev was impregnable, physically superior and enterprising from the start of the set (he notably won the first eight points of the final round to take the lead).

In the next round, Andrey Rublev will challenge the Italian Jannik Sinner, who has still not conceded a single set this year.
