The Daily Mail reveals this Friday that a statue of Kobe Bryant, five-time NBA winner, and his daughter Gianna was going to be installed in front of the Los Angeles Lakers hall. The inauguration at the foot of the Crypto.com Arena should take place on August 24, a date that is anything but a coincidence since these numbers 24 and 8 correspond to the player’s jersey numbers on the floors.
The English newspaper specifies that the wife of the former Lakers player, Vanessa, is involved in this project. The name of the artist to whom we owe the sculpture has not been revealed.
A bronze statue representing Kobe and his daughter has already been placed at the crash site of the helicopter in Calabasas (California) but it is not intended to be permanently installed. At the bottom of this artwork, it reads “Heroes come and go but legends are forever.” These few words are accompanied by the names of the other victims of the accident of January 26, 2020, Christina Mauser; Payton and Sarah Chester; John, Keri, Alyssa Altobelli and pilot Ara Zobayan.
