Jean-Denys Choulet was fired from his position as coach of the Chorale de Roanne, the Loire basketball club, 17th and penultimate in the elite French championship, announced on Tuesday.
“In the coming days, the Club and its representatives will work on the drafting of an agreement which will ratify this decision, taken a few days before a crucial match which will pit the Chorale against the Portel (March 9),” specifies a press release from the Choir evoking “a decision taken in pain”.
“The time to take stock of Jean-Denys Choulet’s last four years in Roanne will come, but for now the leaders are calling for general mobilization in the maintenance operation,” the club further indicates.
Aged 65, Jean-Denys Choulet returned on January 3, 2020 to the Chorale de Roanne, a team that he had already led between 2000 and 2011, notably obtaining in 2007 the title of champion of France while winning the Week Aces (today the Leader’s Cup). At the end of this 2006-2007 season, Choulet was named coach of the year.
