Paris Basketball announced on Thursday the signing of Finnish coach Tuomas Lisalo, 40, for the upcoming season in the Elite championship. “On behalf of everyone at Paris Basketball, including our main owner Eric Schwartz, we are proud to have recruited a coach who many consider to be the best young coach in all of Europe,” wrote the club, 9th in 2022/2023, in a statement.
Tuomas Iisalo, who describes himself as a “man of challenges” was attracted by “a huge potential around basketball in the Paris region” after two seasons in Bonn, Germany, and a Basketball Bundesliga final last year. “The ambition will be to make people want to identify with Paris Basketball and be proud of it,” concluded the man who succeeds American Will Weaver, who is leaving the club after just one season.
