The American Monegasque rear Jordan Loyd, elected MVP of the last finals of the French Betclic Elite basketball championship won by Monaco, will be “unavailable for a period of two to three months”, his club announced on Friday.

Jordan Loyd, who suffered from lumbar spine, underwent “surgery” at this level “in the United States, in agreement with the medical staff of AS Monaco”, the club further indicated on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

Loyd will therefore not take part in Monaco’s training camp, which will take place in Bormio (Italy) from Saturday. “He will join the team in Antalya”, Turkey, where the Roca Team will begin a series of pre-season friendly matches.

“He will then continue his rehabilitation and his individual conditioning programs”, concludes the Monegasque press release.

Last season Loyd had already accumulated two months of absence during the winter after a broken nose in a blow received in Madrid against Real in the Euroleague regular season, then after a shoulder injury, from his back to the floors.

Monaco will also begin its preparation without its French internationals Yakuba Ouattara, Elie Okobo and Terry Tarpey, as well as the Lithuanian Donatas Motiejunas, who are playing the Basketball World Cup from next week, in Japan, Indonesia and the Philippines.

On the other hand, the recruits Mam Jaiteh (pivot), Petr Cornelie (pivot), especially the American star, the leader Kemba Walker, will be very present from Saturday in Bormio with the rest of the Monegasque workforce under the direction of Sasa Obradovic.
