Nigerian pivot John Egbunu has signed up for next season with Villeurbanne, the Rhone basketball club announced on Thursday.
Egbunu (2.11 m), 28, will support Youssoupha Fall and Joffrey Lauvergne in this position, who should return after a rupture of the cruciate ligaments of a knee having kept him away from the floors since October.
Released from NCAA in 2018 (Florida Gators), passed by the G-League then South Korea (Busan), John Egbunu then joined Europe, playing in Varese (Italy), Hapoel Jerusalem or even in Gaziantep (Turkey) .
His statistics with this last team last season are 11.5 points, 7.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks for 15.5 evaluation in 25.4 minutes of play on average per game.
Egbunu is the third recruit announced by Asvel after the commitment of versatile rear-winger Boris Dallo (ex-Cholet and interior Mbaye Ndiaye (ex-Blois).
