French international fullback Yakuba Ouattara has extended his contract with the Monaco team, of which he was captain last season and with which he had reached the end of his contract, the Principality’s basketball club announced on Wednesday.
At 31, Ouattara, captain of the team which won the Coupe de France and the French Championship last season, a historic double for Monaco, will begin his eighth season in the colors of the Roca Team.
“I feel at home in Monaco, which allows me to surpass myself on the pitch,” said the player, who appreciates seeing “the hard core from last season” preserved. “Which will be a big plus,” he assured.
Ouattara was also part of the French team that finished 18th at the last world championships, which took place from August 25 to September 10 in the Philippines, Japan and Indonesia.
