The fight between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk, scheduled for May 18 in Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), has already started outside the ring, between the respective staffs. The fight for the unification of the WBA, IBF, IBO belts in the heavyweight category promises to be very tense after the altercation between John Fury, Tyson’s father, and a member of Usyk’s staff.
The scene took place in the Saudi capital. John Fury, at the age of 59, approached a member of the Ukrainian staff before giving him a violent headbutt. Immediately, the two men are separated. And we then quickly see the blood flowing down Father Fury’s forehead, he himself not seeming to realize it.
An unfortunate episode but which should not distract the two champions who will oppose each other in a historic fight. This is in fact the first clash for the unification of all the belts in the premier category since Lennox Lewis’ victory over Evander Holyfield in 1999.
