Bayern Munich midfielder Jamal Musiala suffered a thigh injury in training and has to “take a break for the time being”, the Bavarian club announced on Wednesday. Musiala suffers from a ‘left thigh muscle tear’, Bayern added. According to the German media, he could be absent for several weeks and miss the Bundesliga matches against Augsburg then Mönchengladbach, as well as the friendly matches between the German selection in Japan and France.
Despite his young age (20), Musiala is part of the executives of Bayern and Mannschaft. The attacking midfielder scored 12 goals and made 13 assists in 33 league appearances last season. He spent his childhood in England and could have played for the English selection but chose the German team with which he played 23 games (one goal). Bayern, who have won the league 11 times in a row, started the season with a 4-0 victory against Werder Bremen. The club also clarified on Wednesday that defender Benjamin Pavard had missed training on Wednesday “due to illness”. The 27-year-old French international, who arrived at Bayern in 2019, is the subject of increasingly insistent transfer rumours, particularly to Italian club Inter Milan.
