Affected by numerous seismic tremors for several days, the city of Naples was once again the victim of an earthquake in recent hours, a few hours before the Champions League match at the Diego Armando Maradona stadium between Napoli and Real Madrid this Tuesday evening (9 p.m.). A magnitude 4 earthquake was felt Monday evening, around 10 p.m. Then a new tremor of magnitude 2.2 was recorded during the night, around 4 a.m.

The epicenter of the earthquake is located in the Phlegrean Fields, at a depth of around 3 kilometers, between the coastal towns of Naples and Pozzuoli, according to the National Institute of Geophysics and Vulcanology (INGV).

The earthquake was felt in several Neapolitan neighborhoods, creating panic among residents. Images shared on social networks show partially damaged walls. No injuries or major damage has been reported after these two earthquakes, civil protection reports on X (formerly Twitter).

The region of the Phlegrean Fields volcano has been plagued for several days by a succession of weak seismic tremors. On Wednesday, another earthquake of magnitude 4.2, the strongest in 40 years in this area, was reported. The director of the INGV Mauro Di Vito had judged it “possible that tremors of greater intensity could occur”.
