Without convincing. At the end of a difficult match, the Merengue won a draw against Leipzig (1-1) in the round of 16 second leg of the Champions League. But disaster was near for Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

The first half was all about sleeping on your feet. Few chances, sterile possession from Real Madrid, whistles in the Santiago Bernabeu bays and only one shot on target animated the first 45 minutes. Back to back after returning from the locker room, the two teams, and in particular RB Leipzig, returned to the field with new intentions in the second half.

Although they had control of the ball, Vinicius Junior came close to exclusion. In the 54th minute, very frustrated, Vinicius Junior expressed his frustration by violently pushing RB Leipzig captain Willi Orban. A gesture which earned him an orange-yellow, but which could have earned him a card of another color. Ironically, the Brazilian striker followed up with… the opener, a few minutes later, by taking a back pass from Jude Bellingham who had perfectly led the Madrilenians towards the German area.

RB Leipzig, however, pushed until the end of the match, first with the equalizer three minutes later from Orban, with a header, then by chaining strikes, chances and in particular this attempt from Dani Olmo which was came to lodge on the crossbar of Lunin (90th 2). In success, as in the first leg, Andriy Lunin once again performed well to allow his team to reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League, for the fourth consecutive year.
