Frenchman Benoît Cosnefroy won the prologue of the Boucles de la Mayenne, a 5.4 km time trial this Thursday in Laval, yet another feat of arms for the Décathlon-AG2R La Mondiale team this season – particularly after the victory for Valentin Paret-Peintre in the Giro.

The Norman puncher, who had never before won a time trial at this level, pockets his seventh success of the year which is already the 21st for his team in 2024. He won in 6 min 49 sec with a second ahead of the Portuguese Ivo Oliveira and two ahead of the British Samuel Watson. A four-day race in the west of France, the Boucles de la Mayenne ends on Sunday.
