Dane Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) won the Tour of Denmark on his home soil on Saturday after dominating the fifth and final stage, a 16.1 km time trial in Helsingor.
Pedersen, 27, won ahead of Norwegian Soren Waerenskjold, second and winner of the first stage, and ahead of his compatriot Magnus Cort Nielsen. And thus took the opportunity to steal the overall leader’s blue jersey that his teammate Mattias Skjelmose still had the day before.
But the latter, 5th in the time trial and who was only four seconds ahead of Pedersen, finished in second position 41 seconds behind his compatriot, while Magnus Cort Nielsen completed this 100% Danish podium.
Mads Pedersen also wins the jersey of the points classification of this Tour disputed in five stages and which ended in the north of the island of Seeland. This is his second victory in Denmark after 2017.
