He has announced it for many months, Peter Sagan wants to stop his career as a road cyclist to concentrate on mountain biking, his second passion. The TotalEnergie rider since 2022 will terminate his contract with the French team one year before the official end of his adventure with the team led by Pierre Latour.

The Slovak, former triple world champion will end his career in France on the roads of the Tour de Vendée on October 1st.

Sagan is leaving for other horizons, the legendary green jersey of the Grande Boucle confided, he will not leave the world of cycling. From 2024, he will return to mountain biking with one goal, to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in this discipline: “When I was a junior, I could alternate between mountain biking and road cycling. Then, Liquigas offered me the chance to become a professional on the road. I directly accepted? At the time it was an easy decision, only road cycling was really developed. I figured if it didn’t work on the road, I’d just have to go back to mountain biking. It was the right choice, but mountain biking has always remained my passion. And now my last challenge is to participate in the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. We haven’t finished hearing about Peter Sagan.
