Australian Cassiel Rousseau was crowned 10m diving world champion on Saturday in Fukuoka (Japan), shattering China’s grand slam dreams on the last day of competition. Rousseau won with 520.85 points after six dives, ahead of the Chinese Lian Junjie (512.35 pts) and Yang Hao (504.00 pts).

This is the first world title for the 22-year-old Australian, who has only won medals at the Commonwealth Games so far.

China, ultra-dominant in diving events since the start of the Worlds, was on track to repeat its perfect score from the 2022 edition in Budapest but failed in the last event. Chinese divers still won twelve of the thirteen titles awarded at these World Championships. They also won four silver and three bronze medals.
