Juventus Turin coach Massimiliano Allegri admitted on Friday that the situation of Paul Pogba, provisionally suspended after a positive doping test, “disappoints” him.

“Since his return (to Juventus in July 2022), he is a 30-year-old man who, unfortunately, has experienced physical problems and for whom things have not gone well. The situation saddens me,” declared Allegri, on the eve of the 4th day of the Italian Championship.

“Paul, as I have already been able to say, is a player different from all the others,” continued the Juve coach who, however, refrained from speaking specifically about the testosterone doping affair which is worth for Pogba to be suspended.

“There is a procedure in progress, I cannot say anything more (…) It is difficult for me to say at the moment when I speak to you, what (this affair) will change for the team in the longer term. term. We simply know that he will not play on Saturday against Lazio and I believe that he will also be absent against Sassuolo on September 23, he continued.

Pogba tested positive for testosterone on August 20 on the sidelines of the Udinese-Juventus match, counting for the first day of the Italian Championship, in which he did not participate.

The 2018 world champion, who experienced a nightmarish 2022-2023 season, punctuated by injuries, has since requested a second opinion, the result of which will be known on October 5, and not September 20 as previously expected.
