The final round of the World Endurance Championship season ended with another victory for Toyota, which retained its world crown. For Peugeot, the results are much less brilliant with a 5th place in the manufacturers’ ranking behind Cadillac, Porsche and Ferrari, the runner-up to the Scuderia.
At the 8 Hours of Bahrain which closed the season on Saturday, the French brand scored 9 points thanks to the 8th place of the No. 94 Peugeot 9X8 and the ninth of the No. 93. This was the last race for French Hypercars in this technical configuration before a major redesign expected in 2024.
“This 8-hour race took place without any particular racing events. No safety car, only two full course yellows so not many events on track which is a bit disappointing. There are rankings which are linked to the performance of the cars. We fought on several levels, not at the front unfortunately but we kind of expected it. On the other hand, over an 8 hour race we made no mistakes, which is positive and everything went very well during the pit stops; the team was very efficient,” commented Olivier Jansonnie, technical director of Peugeot Sport.
