The posters for the play-offs which will see twelve nations compete next March for the last three qualifying tickets for Euro-2024 were defined on Thursday, by a draw carried out by UEFA in Nyon.
The twelve jump-off competitors will first measure themselves during six “semi-finals” on March 21 before playing for their place in the competition in Germany (June 14 – July 14) during three “finals” on March 26, with, as the main possible poster Wales – Poland.
To hope to join the 21 teams already qualified, the Welsh will first have to get rid of Finland while Robert Lewandowski’s Poland will have to beat Estonia in the semi-final.
Each table is defined according to the rankings of the teams in qualifying for Euro-2024 and in the 2022 UEFA Nations League. On behalf of “League B” of this competition, Ukraine will face Bosnia-Herzegovina .
Mykhaïlo Mudryk’s teammates were edged out by Italy after the 0-0 draw on Monday, including a disputed penalty not whistled in the final moments.
In the event of victory, the Ukrainians will face the winner of the Israel-Iceland match.
In the last table, Willy Sagnol’s Georgia will play against Luxembourg. Greece, which has just obtained a symbolic 2-2 draw against the French world vice-champions, will face Kazakhstan.
Before that, the draw for the Euro groups will be made on December 2 in Hamburg.
Semi-final schedules on March 21. Path A: Poland-Estonia; Wales – Finland.
Path B: Israel-Iceland; Bosnia-Herzegovina-Ukraine.
Route C: Georgia-Luxembourg; Greece-Kazakhstan.
In each path, a final will take place on March 26 between the winners of these semi-finals to obtain the three qualifying tickets.
