AC Milan qualified for the quarter-finals of the Europa League by winning 3-1 away against ten-man Slavia Prague on Thursday, for a cumulative score of 7-3. But lost his French goalkeeper, Mike Maignan, to injury.

The locals’ hopes of quickly closing the gap from the first leg (4-2) were dashed in the 20th minute when captain Tomas Holes received a red card for a punch on Milan’s Davide Calabria. Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Rafael Leao scored in the first half to put seven-time European champions Milan in complete control of the match. The second half was uneventful until six minutes from time, when Matej Jurasek scored a consolation goal for Slavia.
