On the sidelines of the British Grand Prix race, this Sunday at 4 p.m., Fernando Alonso returned for the season from his Aston Martin team, for Marca. “I’m not worried,” explained Alonso, arguing that “there are ten races and we went to Q3 ten times.”
Starting 9th in the British Grand Prix race this afternoon, his worst result this season, the double world champion remains lucid: “We are aware that we are lacking in performance today compared to the first five races, it’s obvious and we all see it. But we are working on it.”
He also admits that the team is focusing on the long term and that Aston Martin has dedicated “Free practice 1 on Friday to the 2024 car, to see where the team is at.” Although the Silverstone layout is not favorable to Aston Martins, due to the long curves, engineer Mike Krack slips that new parts have been installed for this race. “Others will come to Budapest, others to Spa, others to Holland: it’s a continuous improvement,” he sums up.
