Double reigning world champion, the French foil fencer Enzo Lefort qualified Thursday for the semi-finals of the Fencing Worlds in Milan where he will face at 6:15 p.m. for a place in the final the Italian Tommaso Marini, his victim in the final at the Cairo last year.
The 31-year-old shooter, crowned by teams in Tokyo, defeated Egyptian Mohamed Hamza (15-14) in the quarterfinals after a scare, having led 14-9. Already vice-champion of Europe last month, Lefort climbs on a third world podium in a row after his title of 2019 then 2022 in the absence of an edition between the two due to Covid.
The last Frenchman in the running, Lefort ensures a third medal in three days for the tricolor delegation after the title of Marie-Florence Candassamy in the sword and the bronze of Romain Cannone with this same weapon.
