Hard career change. Former Argentine international Carlos Tevez will leave his post as coach of Independiente, an Argentine club with a rich record but which is today struggling to emerge from an economic and sporting crisis, according to local media on Friday. The former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus Turin striker is expected to lead the Red Devils for the final time on Sunday against Platense on the second day of the championship.

Tevez, 40, decided to leave the club after being eliminated before the quarter-finals of the Argentine League Cup and losing the first league match of the season, at home, to Talleres de Cordoba ( 3-1).

“The Apache” (his nickname) arrived at Independiente, a club from the province of Buenos Aires, in August 2023, with the mission of saving it from relegation.

Tevez has fulfilled this task, and has a record of 14 wins, 11 draws and 6 defeats in 31 matches. But performances continued to decline.

Before Independiente, Tevez made his coaching debut in 2022 with the Rosario Central club from which he resigned five months later due to differences with its management.
