Goalkeeper Alisson Becker and striker Diogo Jota were injured against Manchester City (1-1), Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp announced on Wednesday and will be absent from the Reds’ next meetings, starting with the one against Linz in Europa League Thursday (9 p.m.). “Both are out,” Klopp said before the match against LASK in C3. “Ali (Becker) is a little worse, we have to see. He will not play tomorrow (Thursday), not Sunday and probably not the following week. Then everything should be better,” said the German technician.

“Diogo (Jota) will take a little more time. We don’t know exactly how long, but it’s a little more serious. We must see. Alisson is not as bad (as we thought), but he is still pretty bad,” he added. Portugal international Diogo Jota, 26, was forced off in the 54th minute against City at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday, while Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson, 31, appeared to suffer a hamstring problem late in the match, but managed to finish the game.

After facing the Austrians from Linz in C3, Liverpool must play three Premier League matches in six days, at home against Fulham, then away against Sheffield United and Crystal Palace. Alisson could be back for the match against Manchester United at Anfield on December 17. Caoimhin Kelleher, who has only made five appearances this season, including three in the Europa League, should replace the Brazilian goalkeeper.
