Italy coach Roberto Mancini is now also in charge of the Under-21 and Under-20 teams, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) announced on Friday.
“The integration of these teams will lead to applying the same styles and systems of play on the field, promoting and accelerating technical learning,” explained the FIGC in its press release.
Mancini, at the head of the Nazionale since May 2018, which he led to the European title in 2021, will oversee the operation of the two U21 and U20 selections and will be supported by a coach for each, respectively Carmine Nunziata and Attilio Lombardo, who was until then one of his deputies.
The FIGC also announced that former international Andrea Barzagli, 2006 world champion, has joined the management of the Nazionale where he will be in charge of the defensive sector.
