Berlin and Germany are in shock. Kay Bernstein, president of Hertha Berlin, died on Tuesday morning at the age of forty-three.
It was the Berlin club which was responsible for announcing the news the same day, via a press release on its social networks: “Today Tuesday, Hertha BSC received the terrible news of the unexpected death of president Kay Bernstein at the age of 43,” declared the Bundesliga 2 resident. “The entire club, its committees and its employees are stunned and deeply dismayed.”
According to the German daily Bild, he did not wake up, and was discovered by his wife in his bed. Kay Bernstein arrived at the club in 20222, and was a fervent supporter of his team.
The club concluded by asking that “the privacy of the family be respected after this terrible event”.
