Eden Hazard hangs up his crampons. At 32, the Belgian striker decided to end his professional career. He announced the news this Tuesday on his Instagram account.
“You have to know how to listen to yourself and say stop at the right time. After 16 years of career and more than 700 matches played, I decided to end my career as a professional footballer. (…) It is now time to enjoy my loved ones and have new experiences. See you soon off the field,” writes the former Lille player.
Having passed through LOSC, Chelsea then Real Madrid, who left him free last summer, the former captain of the Belgian selection won numerous titles including Ligue 1 with the Mastiffs in 2011, two Premier Leagues among the Blues (2015 and 2017) and the 2022 Champions League in the Merengue jersey.

After making his “dream” come true, Hazard said stop despite a few approaches from clubs in recent weeks.
“I was able to realize my dream, play and have fun on the pitches across Europe and the world. During my career I have met great people, managers, coaches, teammates and I would particularly like to thank the clubs I have been through: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and obviously thank the Belgian Selection again. A special thank you to my family, my friends, my advisors and the people who have been close to me in good times and bad. Finally, a huge thank you to you, my fans, who have followed me for all these years, for your encouragement in each of the countries where I have played.” adds the player who will have marked the history of Belgian football.
