Hwang Ui-Jo is in the eye of the storm. After having had a good spell at Bordeaux, he now plays for Norwich, in the Premiership. But it was not at the club that the 31-year-old got into trouble.
He is under investigation in South Korea after his former partner accused him last June of recording a sex tape without her consent. The main person concerned had filed a complaint for blackmail and defamation.
The Korean Football Federation’s ethics committee said it had “decided not to select Hwang Ui-jo for the national team until a clear conclusion is reached on the facts,” via a statement.
The coach of the Asian Tigers, Jurgen Klinsmann, declared that he understood “perfectly the current situation”, and that he “would respect the decision of the Korean Football Federation”.
