Midfielder Grace Geyoro, injured on Friday against Portugal, has withdrawn from the match in Austria on Tuesday for the League of Nations, the French Football Federation announced on Saturday.
“Hit in the right ankle during the match against Portugal, the Paris SG player left the French team gathering at the start of the afternoon,” the federation said in a press release.
“If the medical examinations are reassuring, the midfielder, who scored on Friday, will however not be fit for the Blue’s next match on Tuesday against Austria,” she added.
After its 2-0 victory against Portugal in Valenciennes to launch its Olympic season, the French team flew on Saturday afternoon to Vienna, where it was to take up residence for its second match in the League of Nations.
The League of Nations, which offers tickets for the 2024 Olympics, will determine the groups for the qualifying campaign for Euro-2025 which will begin next spring. If France as host country is not concerned, the Blues must avoid finishing last in their group, synonymous with possible relegation to League B.
