Just over a month before the official resumption of Ligue 1 version 2023/2024 (August 12-13), the last runners-up in the championship have completed their first preparation match. The Lensois were opposed to Dunkirk for a derby in the north of France. At the end of a very lively match, the two teams parted ways in a spectacular draw, 4-4.

Franck Haise’s men opened the scoring through Florian Sotoca (8th) before seeing Dunkirk take over to lead 4-2 with a quarter of an hour remaining. Brave, the Lensois scored two goals in the last ten minutes including that of Neil El Aynaoui (88th) for the equalizer.

The RCL will continue their preparation against Amiens, Sochaux and Wolfsburg in July, before finishing against Manchester United in early August. The championship will then start in Brest for the northern club.
