While playing a friendly match between veterans in the suburbs of Panama City, Luis Tejada “el Matador”, as he was nicknamed by local fans, died following a heart attack.
Luis Tejada had 108 caps and 43 goals with Panama, making him the country’s top scorer. He notably played a key role in his country’s qualification for the first World Cup in its history in 2018. The Panamanian football federation shared a press release to announce the news. “He was the symbol of the development of football in our country. We will never forget you.”
