The German Football Federation (DFB) assured on Saturday that it had made “no contact” with Jurgen Klopp for the position of coach. “He wants to take a break and that’s why the question doesn’t arise,” DFB chief executive Andreas Rettig told Focus magazine.

Klopp, 56, announced in January that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the season. He has been at the helm of the Reds since 2015.

The contract of current coach Julian Nagelsmann ends after Euro-2024 in Germany. The Mannschaft have won just three of their 11 games in 2023 and just one of four since Nagelsmann took the bench in September.
