Even far from the old continent, Cristiano Ronaldo continues to make people talk about him. Asked about various subjects on the sidelines of the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony in Dubai, the Portuguese notably considered that the individual awards were not always given wisely.
“The Ballon d’Or and The Best are losing their credibility,” he first judged, criticizing the two most important individual trophies. “It’s not to say that Messi didn’t deserve it, or even Mbappé or Haaland…but the numbers are there and the numbers don’t disappoint.” The five-time Golden Ball therefore estimated that by having scored more than fifty goals in 2023, counting his achievements in the Saudi league, he could have claimed a sixth golden trophy.
He concluded by supporting his point: “You have to consider the entire season. “Numbers are facts.”
