Something new in the Rico case. Cadena SER’s “El Larguero” program in Spain had access to the police report concerning the accident on horseback suffered by the PSG porter. As a reminder, on May 28, Sergio Rico received several blows to the face from a horse during a pilgrimage in Andalusia, in El Rocío.
The 29-year-old porter, still in treatment on the Seville side at the Virgen del Rocío hospital, seems to be doing better according to his wife. “He is improving, patiently but step by step. He already calls us by our name,” said Alba Silva.
The Iberian media which had access to the 64 pages of the police report affirms that the circumstances of the accident cannot be confirmed. “Many witnesses saw the consequences, that is to say Sergio Rico on the ground after the brutal accident, however not the moment of the events” reports El Larguero. While adding that it “cannot be demonstrated at any time that the goalkeeper was mounted on the horse when the events occurred”.

El Larguero also clarified that the judge of Court 2 of Palma del Condado (Andalusia) has decided to close the case. Rico was loaned to PSG by Sevilla FC in the summer of 2019. He was bought for €6m the following year. He has 24 appearances in the Parisian jersey, including none last season.
