Spain coach Luis de la Fuente said on Monday he “respected” Luis Rubiales’ decision to step down as president of the Spanish FA after he caused outrage by forcibly kissing the world champion Jenni Hermoso.
“I have the greatest respect for Luis Rubiales’ decision,” De la Fuente told a press conference ahead of Spain’s Euro 2024 qualifier against Cyprus in Granada.
Questioned several times, the coach did not want to mention the scandal, during which he was criticized after applauding the speech of his ex-president who refused to resign “for a little kiss agreed to”. “I have already said what I had to say on the subject” he responded to journalists, assuring that he wanted to concentrate only on football.
