“I’m sorry. I’m fine” Fernando Alonso reassured his team early Saturday afternoon just a few seconds after leaving behind the wheel of his Aston Martin. More fear than harm for the Spaniard on the Imola track where the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix will be held on Sunday. The grid veteran lost control of his car in the Rivazza sector during the third free practice session. An exit from the track which risks giving its mechanics a hard time because if it is not destroyed, the car could suffer serious damage.

At the end of the session, it was Sergio Pérez’s turn to make a mistake with the world champions’ Red Bull after biting the curbs. As with Fernando Alonso, the accident pushed the race management to stop the proceedings and wave the red flags.
