Spanish FC Barcelona midfielder Pedri injured his right thigh in training, FC Barcelona said in a statement on Thursday. “FC Barcelona informs that the player of the first team Pedri has injured the level of the anterior muscle of the right thigh” wrote the club in a brief press release.

Barça did not specify the duration of his absence, but the Spanish international should miss several weeks of competition with his club and the meetings of La Roja scheduled for the beginning of September, according to the Spanish press. Pedri, 20, had already missed part of the end of last season with a hamstring injury. He scored the Blaugranas’ first goal of the season on Sunday against Cadiz (2-0).

It’s a new blow for Barça, already deprived of their Uruguayan central defender Ronald Araujo, also injured in the thigh and unavailable for at least several weeks.
