Éric Roy (coach of Brest, beaten 2-0 in Monaco): “What predominates is anger, incomprehension, frustration. The incomprehension because we call the VAR on situations that are favorable to us and not the other way around. Today in French football, there are many matches which are decided not by the referee but by the VAR. This evening we are denied the first goal, which is magnificent, for such a tiny fault… The VAR calls the referee, he cancels the goal… Then he is not called for the fault on Jérémy (Le Douaron ). People who saw this action decided that there was no fault… That’s the incomprehension. Either it’s incompetence, or I don’t know… There are two standards. It’s like that, I prefer to laugh about it but I put myself in the place of the players, who had a great match, who were magnificent, with personality, quality. We had more situations, we shot more, had more possession, we had more control but we lost 2-0 on very contentious decisions, so obviously there is a lot of anger. We pulled on the bar on the post, we were not discouraged. But having a full match like that and not being rewarded is hard for them.”
