Satisfied with the easy victory won on Wednesday against Lyon (3-0), Marseille coach Gennaro Gattuso still warned that his team had “done nothing yet” and should not forget that they had to “eat his black bread.

“These three victories give us a little breathing room but we haven’t done anything yet. We ate our black bread and we must not forget that. Three victories is not enough to forget that,” explained Gattuso.

“We must not believe that we have solved everything. We will see that when we have found continuity, in the services and the results,” he added.

“Tonight it looks like we’re cured, but I don’t know. The two matches before, we won with difficulty. We must think about working, resting, losing as few players as possible and always playing with this will and this intensity,” Gattuso said.

On Wednesday, OM also played in an unusual pattern with three defenders, while Gattuso usually favors a four-man defense.

“We had studied Lyon and when you lose Kondogbia and Rongier, you have different players available. So I put my ego and my footballing credo aside a little,” smiled the Italian technician.

“Yesterday when we started working on this, they weren’t 100% convinced. But they were good, they believed in it and we had the match we hoped for,” concluded Gattuso.
