Bruno Genesio in an ejection seat. The defeat conceded last week against Lyon (0-1) could be too much for the Breton technician. According to information from L’Équipe, Bruno Genesio could indeed be replaced on the Stade Rennais bench by Julien Stéphan. The Breton club, despite a serious run in the Europa League, is only 13th in Ligue 1, with only one point ahead of the play-off team and has conceded four defeats in the last five days of Ligue 1.

RMC Sport confirms this Saturday that Genesio, not convinced by the measures put forward (transfer window, reinforcement of the staff) by his management to relaunch the team, would have returned to Lyon with the objective of not returning to manage Rennes. Isolated from his family and tired of the turn of events, the French coach will now negotiate his departure with the club, which should not take the form of a dismissal.

Arriving at the head of Rennes in 2021, Genesio managed to qualify his team for the European Cup by finishing 6th then twice 4th. This season, he is far from the mark… Julien Stéphan left Rennes in March 2021, after winning the Coupe de France in 2019, and signed up with Strasbourg. The Alsatian club thanked him ten months ago.
