This Tuesday, FC Lorient confirmed that it had filed a complaint for defamation. This complaint follows the various displays made on the night of Friday to Saturday, the day before the match against OGC Nice by a group of supporters who denounced the arrival of Benjamin Mendy at the club. Accused of rape, attempted rape and sexual assault by seven women in England, the former Manchester City left-back was found not guilty last month after two high-profile trials. The supporters’ slogans also targeted Wissam Ben Yedder and Achraf Akimi, both indicted for rape.

It is the “Collectif2Lorient”, a new collective, which claimed to be the origin of these messages. “We want B. Mendy and all the other club rapists and aggressors to be excluded, that justice be done, had written the collective in opposition to the recruitment of the 2018 world champion by the Hakes. And that more generally the world of football and sport shed light on the facts and clean up their ranks. Stop impunity.” they said.
The collages were all removed around the stadium on Saturday afternoon, the day before the match against Nice (1-1).
