Good news for OM. Senegalese midfielder Pape Gueye will be available to face Lyon on Wednesday, after serving a four-month suspension, his coach Gennaro Gattuso announced on Tuesday.
“Gueye is available tomorrow. He can play as a starter, or two minutes or not at all, but he is available,” Gattuso said at a press conference. “I want to congratulate him. He made friends with the reserves, he was available. We must thank him for the way he handled this period. He’s a very professional boy,” added the Italian.

Before joining OM in the summer of 2020, Pape Gueye, trained in Le Havre, had signed a pre-contract with Watford. At the end of April 2020, the English club even announced his signing for five years, from the following July 1. But Gueye, selected for the French youth teams before opting in October 2021 for Senegal, the country of origin of his parents, had in the meantime broken this contract unilaterally for formal defects.
OM, then chaired by Jacques-Henri Eyraud, took advantage of the opportunity despite the risks of litigation, materialized a few months later by an appeal filed in February 2021 by Watford before Fifa.
The international federation suspended the player for four months, a decision confirmed this summer by the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
