Joined at the last minute in Lorient this Sunday (2-2), Monaco nevertheless remains alone at the top of the French Championship after five days ahead of the new runner-up Brest, victorious in Reims (2-1), and Marseille, held in check by Toulouse (0-0) Sunday.

At the other end of the ranking, Lyon is no longer last, leaving the burden to Lens. But OL, at home, failed to beat Le Havre (0-0) and have still not won a match this season. This will be the mission of Fabio Grosso, new coach who will start on Monday replacing Laurent Blanc. After PSG’s defeat at home on Friday against Nice (3-2), neither Monaco nor Marseille took the opportunity to take three precious points from the reigning champion.

Still undefeated, the Monegasques (11 points) are only one point ahead of Brest, new 2nd, and two ahead of Nice (3rd) and OM (4th), also undefeated. PSG slips to fifth place after its first defeat of the season.

Note that no French club lined up in the European Cup this week won this weekend: Paris and Lens, who face Dortmund and Sevilla in the Champions League, lost. Marseille, Rennes and Toulouse, present in the Europa League, drew. Just like Lille, aligned in the Europa Conference League (Rennes and Lille, opposed on Saturday, made 2-2).

The good surprise operation comes from Brest, winner in Reims (2-1), thanks in particular to the beautiful ride of Pierre Lees-Melou. The Finisterians found success after a defeat in Marseille and a draw against Rennes and climbed to second place. They started the season with a stunning victory, already, against Lens (3-2) before moving on to Le Havre (2-1). In Strasbourg, Racing (10th, 7 pts) came back from Montpellier (14th, 5 pts) in the second period to obtain a draw (2-2).

At the bottom of the ranking, Nantes did the right thing with a victory at Clermont, its very first of the season (1-0). The Nantais (15th, 5 pts) breathe a little and leave the Auvergnats in the red zone who missed a penalty in stoppage time. Clermont (17th, 1 pt) is one of the three teams to have not yet won, with Lens (18th, 1 pt), defeated at home against Metz on Saturday (1-0) and Lyon, 16th, who collected their second point of the season.
