Brazilian defender Dante, 40, captain of OGC Nice, has extended his contract with the Riviera club for one season until June 2025, which announced it on Wednesday on its website.
In Nice since the start of the 2016-2017 season, Dante, former Brazilian international (13 caps, two goals), who was at the end of his contract on June 30, 2024, played this season 32 of Nice’s 34 matches in Ligue 1 , qualifying him for the Europa League within the best defense in the elite (29 goals conceded).
He also scored his only goal this season in Strasbourg, becoming, at 40 years and 193 days old, the fourth player aged 40 or over to score in Ligue 1 since 1947/48.
The former winner of the Champions League with Bayern Munich in 2013, who will turn 41 on October 18, will begin his ninth season in the colors of Nice, for whom he has already worn the colors 282 times and for whom he has scored eight goals.
After the announcement of the departure of sports director Florent Ghisolfi to AS Rome, by president Jean-Pierre Rivère during the last day of L1 in Lille (2-2) last Sunday, and that, very likely, of the coach Italian Francesco Farioli at Ajax Amsterdam, the announcement of Dante’s extension offers a little continuity to the Nice project.
