After Brest’s demonstration against Lorient (4-0) on Wednesday which allowed it to move to 4th at the end of the first leg of Ligue 1, coach Éric Roy admitted to having had a “dream” evening.

“When we prepare for a match, when we imagine scenarios, we always dream of this kind of slightly perfect evening. Moreover, in a derby, a match which is even more close to the hearts of the supporters,” he said at a press conference.

At half-time, the Mass was already said thanks to a quadruplet from Malian playmaker, Kamory Doumbia.

“At a given moment, there is a player like Kamory who reveals himself in that match, who has the talent and the success to score this fantastic first goal with this volley and who then sets everything in motion,” Roy said.

“This is exceptional. Scoring four goals in a match, I don’t know if that had ever happened to him and I don’t know if it will happen to him again (…) but he’s so endearing that it’s nice for him,” he said. he admitted.

Despite this fourth place in line with the quality of the game offered by the Finistériens, Roy wants to be measured for the future.

“We don’t forget that a few months ago, we were in a perilous and very difficult maintenance operation. This is why you have to have a lot of humility and know that in football, everything goes very quickly,” he stressed.

“We gave ourselves the right to take advantage of this vacation, to rest and to leave with the feeling of having accomplished our duty,” conceded the coach.

But “today there is no one in the team, no one in the staff, no one in the daily environment of the club who talks about Europe because we have to be aware of what we is and where we come from,” he insisted again.

Despite the 17 point lead over Toulouse, 16th and virtual play-off, Brest’s objective remains “not to finish in the last three. Anything above this objective will be something rewarding for us,” the coach insisted.
