“FC Girondins de Bordeaux is in mortal danger,” warn the Ultramarines, the main group of Bordeaux supporters, through a press release published Tuesday evening on social networks in which they point out the “evils that are gnawing” at the club.

“Our club is dying, we cannot look elsewhere. The ills that are gnawing at the Girondins de Bordeaux are deep and today put us in a catastrophic situation,” wrote the group three days after the defeat in Bastia (3-1).

While promotion to L1 was the objective announced this summer by management, Bordeaux is in 17th place in Ligue 2, in a relegated position, the worst ranking in its professional history which began in 1937.

The replacement, a month ago, of coach David Guion by former club midfielder (2003-2005) Albert Riera did not cause the expected shock. In three matches managed, the Spanish technician only collected one point against Rodez (2-2) at the end of a match where his team led 2-0 after 20 minutes of play.

The Ultramarines, who have provided regular support over the last two seasons to president-owner Gérard Lopez who saved their club from filing for bankruptcy, today believe that his “intermittent presence (…) is not enough to represent a strong authority in Haillan” and demand “a captain at the head of the ship”.

The work of sports director Admar Lopes, who “wears a suit much too big for him”, is described as “disastrous”. “It is high time to clean up and bring in someone competent,” assert the supporters.

The Bordeaux players are also the target of their grievances: the Ultramarines criticize “a defense at bay”, “a bewitched attack”, “transparent frameworks”, “going to nightclubs on defeat evenings” or “behavior more that limit towards the supporters.

“Their responsibility in our sporting situation is immense and they put our club on the edge of the precipice,” deplores the group which announces “strong actions” during the reception in Annecy on Saturday on behalf of the 14th day of L2.
