The game plan was expected: stay solid behind, project forward fast. Régis Le Bris’ men applied the instructions to the letter, even sublimating their attacking potential. With four goals scored in six shots on target (nine in all), the Hakes were applied when it was necessary to hurt the Mastiffs. Often found on the counter, the attackers (Faivre, Doukouré, Ponceau, Kroupi…) were able to count on the spaces left by the Lille defense to adjust the opposing goalkeeper 4 times. Romain Faivre’s goal, a magnificent uncontrolled lob on Lucas Chevalier, marks the high point of the game. Both for the beauty of the gesture and for its importance (Lille had reduced the score to 2-1 five minutes earlier).
What a start to the season, from Captain Hake. Laurent Abergel, invaluable for his trainer Régis Le Bris since the start of the 2023/2024 financial year, made the experience speak this afternoon. From the 9th, he mischievously surprises the young Miramon in the feet to score the first goal of the game. Then, it was he who made the very long opening towards Romain Faivre, on the goal of 3-1 (62nd). Defensively, he was at the heart of the game, serving as cement in the Lorient lines. The dimension that Abergel is taking on in Lorient at the start of the exercise can be attributed to the enormous slaughter he is achieving, in defense, in the middle and in attack at each meeting. Arguably the most consistent player on the pitch today.
FLOPS
LOSC only have their eyes to cry. In the end, they were the masters of place play, but the constant and repeated defensive errors got the better of their grip. The first two goals (9th, 10th), conceded 1 minute and 7 seconds apart, were due to careless errors: Miramon, at fault on the opener, did not take the information behind him and did not see therefore not Abergel sneaking in to take the ball from his feet, at the entrance to the Lille area. Ismaily, on the engagement had the time and the choice to make a back pass. Instead Doukouré recovers the ball… which will end up a few seconds later in the back of the net. These two goals were the standard bearers of the northern defense, between errors and misunderstandings.
For starters, it’s hard to imagine a worse scenario. From the height of his 20 years, the Argentinian Ignacio Miramon was launched by Fonseca into the heart of the Lille game. Arrived this summer from D1 Argentina, the defensive midfielder cost his team the first goal of the game. Lack of concentration or inattention, the error is fatal. The hopeful international tried to recover afterwards, with courage, taking his chance from afar (36th). But the experience was cut short: he was replaced by Angel Gomes in the 39th (decisive passer). Akon Haraldsson has gone down the same path as his Spanish-speaking teammate. He left his place to Rémy Cabella.
