Celta Vigo’s 21-year-old Spanish midfielder Gabriel Veiga has signed a three-year contract with Saudi club Al-Ahli, the two clubs announced on Saturday. “Gabri Veiga is starting a new sporting adventure at Al-Ahli,” writes the Spanish club on X (ex-Twitter). “You will always be one of us and RC Celta your home. Thank you for defending our jersey with passion,” continues the club which plays in the Spanish first division.

“The jewel of Spain will sing our anthem”, writes for his part Al-Ahli, always on X, about the young player who comes to inflate the list of talents of world football who have chosen to join the very lucrative Saudi championship.

Although neither source mentioned the amount of the transfer, several media put forward the sum of 38 million dollars (35.2 million euros). In Al-Ahli, Veiga, finalist of the Euro Espoirs at the beginning of July, will evolve alongside the former Brazilian striker of Liverpool Roberto Firmino, the former goalkeeper of Chelsea Edouard Mendy, or the former Algerian striker of Manchester City Riyad Mahrez.
