Hugo Ekitike and PSG, it’s officially over. Possessed from Reims in 2022 for just under €30 million, the 21-year-old French striker was loaned to Frankfurt last winter. Eintracht has, as expected, exercised its purchase option. The amount of the operation has not been revealed but L’Equipe recently mentioned a total of €20 million, including 3.5 for the paying loan and 16.5 for the rest. “So far, Hugo has shown his qualities during his appearances. We are fully convinced of his potential and look forward to seeing him in the Eintracht jersey beyond the current season,” enthuses German manager Markus Krösche. So far, Ekitike has scored one goal in 12 matches for the Eagles. Here he is tied until 2029 with sixth in the German championship standings.
Promising under the colors of his training club, Reims (28 matches, 11 goals), with a trip to Denmark and the Vejle club (11 matches, 3 goals), on loan, Ekitike caught the eye of the recruiters of PSG in 2022. Alas, the experience was hardly conclusive… Whether at the accounting level (3 matches, 4 goals) or in terms of behavior, attitude, the big stake (1.89m) was lost in Paris and the capital club tried to get rid of him last summer, in vain. The person concerned notably refused to join… Frankfurt, which almost derailed the transfer of Randal Kolo Muani. Management therefore put him away for the first six months of the current season before sending him to Eintracht last winter, on loan.
