After fifteen years spent in Europe and the Middle East, he will return to Brazil. According to the information revealed by Goal Brasil, confirmed by Globo, Luiz Gustavo is in the process of signing up with São Paulo FC. Free from any contract since his departure from Al-Nassr last July, the 36-year-old midfielder should sign a contract in the coming days which “could last up to two seasons”.
His ex-teammate at FC Bayern Munich Rafinha would have been “a link” between him and the Brazilian club at the start of negotiations. He would also have encouraged his compatriot to join him at the SPFC. As a reminder, Luis Gustavo notably defended the colors of the Bavarian club (2011-2013), with whom he won the Champions League, and those of Olympique de Marseille (2017-2019), with whom he reached the final of the Europa League. After an experience in Turkey, at Fenerbahçe, he decided to join the Arabian Peninsula (Al-Nassr).
