Genoa coach Alberto Gilardino confirmed on Friday that his club was looking to recruit Ukrainian Ruslan Malinovskyi from Marseille.

“We are waiting for the agreement to be final and we will see if it will be tomorrow (Saturday) at the stadium,” said Gilardino, at a press conference on the eve of the start of the 2023-24 season.

“He’s a quality player who has already done great things in Serie A, very good in one-on-one, with a great shot from a distance effective on set pieces, we are waiting for him,” insisted the former Italy international.

According to the Italian press, the Ukrainian international striker would join Genoa, back in the top flight this season, in the form of a loan with a mandatory purchase option.

Arrived in January 2023 in L1, Malinovskyi, 30, failed to win at OM with a record of 23 matches for two goals in all competitions.

He played three and a half seasons in Serie A in Bergamo (30 goals in 143 matches in all competitions).
